It is estimated that about 20 billion shoes are made annually. If this is true, why are there still so many children out there with bare feet? This is because they simply cannot afford them, and/or they cannot access them. Flips flops are well known as cheap and simple shoes that many take for granted. Most likely, you might own a pair for yourself. Some children do not have the ability to say that they own a pair and we believe that they should be able to.
Why flip flops? Because due to its global use as casual footwear, it should be available to all. The modern flip flop has a thin rubber sole and a "Y" shape strap running along the sides of the foot to the gap in between a big toe and the one beside it. Plus, the simpler ones cost roughly around $2. This simple design can prevent uncomfortable walking and be a safer option than walking barefoot in warmer areas.

covermyfeet.org was founded in September of 2016. As of now, we are trying to collect donations and give it to the Isha Vidya schools in India so they can provide flip flops to the needy children there.
Our long term goal is to cooperate and expand to many more schools in India and abroad in order to provide as many pairs of flip flops as possible to the people in need.
